JARANA is a dance and live music piece that investigates collective traditional practices that have disappeared or are at risk of disappearing.

It invites reflection on the importance of preserving traditional celebrations, while exploring new forms of collective expression in a world of accelerating change and growing technological presence.
JARANA is a celebration and a research project that concludes a series of three works in which collective traditional practices are the central concern.

Laia Santanach is a choreographer, dancer and educator from Barcelona, and artistic director of her own company, Cia. Laia Santanach. With Ballant ballàvem she won the Best Performer Award at Festival 15m2 (2023). In 2017 she created Rèplica, a piece born of her interest in working with live electronic music. In 2018 she began a research process on tradition and ritual that gave rise to a trilogy: ÀER (2019), winner of the Premi Delfí Colomé; TRADERE (2022), which premiered at the Mercat de les Flors; and JARANA (2024), which premiered at Teatros del Canal. With JARANA she won the Dansacat Award in the screendance category and is nominated for the Premis MAX 2025 for best choreography.
