Sismògraf emerged from the need to pool the dance proposals programmed in Olot to create a reference point and broaden the dance audience in the city.

It is also driven by the opportunity to network on the basis of the European Cities 3.0 project. It is a festival that combines the local context with the national and international scene.

Sismògraf becomes the strategic market for dance in Catalonia and is organised jointly by Olot City Council and the Government of Catalonia. One of its aims is to raise the prominence of dance in citizens’ day-to-day lives, in the programmes run by municipalities and major performing arts facilities, in the realm of education and the media. Programmers, artists and national and international audiences have a date every year in Olot.
