Altres mirades / Mapadeball

More than 300 second-year secondary students have performed Altres Mirades, a choreography created by Claudia Moreso and Noemí Ventura for the Mapadeball project.

Altres Mirades is a contemporary dance piece – the culmination of a unique artistic and educational experience that has taken place across a number of secondary schools in Olot. The choreography explores how we perceive ourselves and relate to others through movement, placing the focus on our own gaze and that of the people around us and turning the body into a tool for communication, expression and collective creation.

Mapadeball is an educational project that aims to bring contemporary dance to secondary school students as a tool for communication, creativity and cohesion. The emphasis is on the creative process, and the project unfolds in several phases: teacher training, collaborative work with local choreographers and artists, dance sessions in schools, and rehearsals culminating in a public performance. Driven by Transversal, Catalonia’s network of cultural activities, it forms part of the Pla d’Impuls de la Dansa de Catalunya – a regional initiative seeking to establish contemporary dance as a pedagogical and transformative resource in secondary education.
