An interactive proposal, a gathering to engage in drawing.

A map is a graphical and symbolic representation of a segment of the Earth. It can vary in scale and detail, illustrating geographic features such as boundaries, bodies of water, roads, topographic relief and human settlements. Sketching maps connects us with memories, recreating emotions and experiences we have had in specific places. As the hand glides across the paper, it traces steps, images and even scents, recalling the physical exertion of walking. Drawing distorts distances, magnifying what captures our attention while disregarding what doesn’t appeal to us. Drawing maps grants us the freedom to create geographical scores that accentuate, pause or edit information. This drawing gathering serves as a space for sketching together, a collective endeavour employing liquids.

Maria Camila Sanjinés Encinales’ (Bogotá) cultural production is characterised by a critical examination of reality. Her works delve into political themes surrounding gender, diversity, legality, displacement and borders. She channels her creativity through an ongoing exploration that spans from tangible mediums like drawing, ceramics or embroidery to more abstract forms such as performance art or soundscapes. Moreover, she intersects with various disciplines including graphic novels, performing arts and literature.
