Aleta
Cia. Marc Fernández
A contemporary dance work rooted in the world of the castellers (Catalonia’s celebrated human tower builders) transformed into a vivid, physical and emotionally charged stage experience.
Aleta celebrates a Catalan tradition stretching back more than 200 years – one rich in values, imagery and raw emotion. Dance and tradition meet in a work that honours culture, roots and place through a contemporary stage language. Bodies, rhythms and movement come together to evoke the collective rituals that remind us who we are, where we come from and where we are headed.
Cia. Marc Fernández was founded by dancer and choreographer Marc Fernández (Vilafranca del Penedès, 1988), who trained in contemporary dance at ÀREA, Espai de Dansa i Creació. He has performed with companies including Alexander Whitley Dance Company, Tanz&Kunst Königsfelden, Sagardoy/Bravo – Plan B, Cia. La Taimada and Crea Dance Company. In 2022 he launched his career as a creator with ÍOR, a contemporary dance duet that went on to receive several awards and nominations. In 2025 he premiered Aleta, his first large-scale production, at the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa. The company is now in a phase of growth and consolidation, with a stable artistic and technical team, ÍOR and Aleta on tour and a new piece in development.
