Two performers jump, dance and push their bodies to exhaustion. bang bang is a work built around the notion of physical endurance.

bang bang is a trial by endurance. Built on repeated jumps and athletic patterns that require intense focus, the work gradually reveals combativeness, endurance, and human vulnerability. In this two-person version, the ordeal becomes a shared experience, bringing together each performer’s strengths and weaknesses.
Precision meets sweat. Over the course of 50 minutes, the performers’ identities dissolve. Continuing to jump becomes, all at once, absurd, poetic, and political.

Manuel Roque’s creative universe combines kinesthetic virtuosity with a polymorphic questioning of the contemporary human condition. His interest in the body in movement is expressed through the notions of integrity, curiosity, attention, kindness towards others and oneself, and generosity in physical engagement.
Alongside a rich performing career with companies such as Marie Chouinard, Dominique Porte, Sylvain Émard Danse, Sylvain Émard Danse, Fortier Danse-Création, and Daniel Léveillé, he has developed a distinctive choreographic practice. His many works include Project In Situ, Data, Black Matter, 4 OR, bang bang (Best Choreography Award at the Prix de la Danse de Montréal, 2017). His most recent solo, The wind rises, was acclaimed in Montréal and across Europe.
