An exploration of underground landscapes.

What is the connection between individuals and the subterranean world?
Sota Terra explores the depths where we conceal what we wish to hide, where we imagine monstrous legends or harbour fears of entrapment. Yet, it’s also the realm where we unearth the most precious minerals, lay our loved ones to rest and uncover fragments of history. Our daily routines propel us forward in a hurried pace, urging us to focus on the future. But what if we shift our gaze downward? Our existence is encapsulated within a centimetre of stalactite.
We invite you to become cyborg explorers, equipped with headlamps and cybernetic bracelets (which pulsate in response to seismic activity), and to join us in venturing beneath the surface.

Moon Ribas (Mataró, 1985) is a cyborg artist and choreographer. Quim Girón (Barcelona, 1985) is the founder and artistic director of Animal Religion, a company dedicated to exploring new languages within contemporary circus. The collaboration between Moon Ribas and Quim Girón began in 2019 with the goal of merging performing arts and cybernetics, taking inspiration from natural phenomena and the animal world. Bridging the realms of circus and dance, they have forged their own language, a shared territory giving rise to works such as Fenomen (premiered at Grec 2021) and Sense of Pregnancy (2022), a piece delving into a new cyborg sense that enables Quim Girón to connect with his child’s embryo.
