Migrare is a dance piece with stilts that reflects on migration. There are four women and an empty space. Empty but crippled by obstacles and invisible boundaries, irrational hatreds and prejudices. Al four had to leave their homeland. And the host country rejects them. They move around in search of their place in the world. A place to live, to stay, to put down roots, to be in. A place to call “home”. That’s all they ask. And they will fight to make it happen. Migrare revolves around this battle. The battle of four strong, brave and, most of all, resilient women.

Set up in 2004 by Joan Santacreu, the Maduixa company creates artistic proposals for indoor and outdoor venues for all audiences. The use of stilts as a narrative element has become a hallmark of the company, opening up a universe of possibilities to articulate a dialogue between dance, gesture and balance. Their creations have been awarded more than twenty prizes, including the MAX Award and the FETEN Award. Migrare earned them the Moritz Prize at FiraTàrrega 2021 for the Best Street Arts Première, a recognition they had also previously earned with Mulïer, another dance show on stilts that could be seen at Sismògraf 2017.
