Dancing to reimagine roots and bonds.

ERA is a reflection on one’s own land and history, delving into the lives of vine growers and farmers, exploring the soil and crops, and reaching back to ancient times and their remnants. Most importantly, it focuses on the individuals who are currently part of Esbart Rocasagna, mainly the members of the Dance Ensemble.
ERA is a verb tense that places us in the past – a unit of time that defines an era, a territory and a shared history. It’s a piece that places value on the people and the bonds that unite them. These bonds extend to the land, the history of places and bodies and collectives. Ultimately, these bonds create a sense of home.
For this project, Esbart Rocasagna has benefitted from the contributions of Quim Bigas and his choreographic universe.

The Esbart Rocasagna de Gelida is a non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting popular culture, particularly traditional dance. Established in 1967, the group presently comprises over 120 dancers involved in the Dance School, the Dance Ensemble and the seasoned group. Esbart’s repertoire encompasses revived traditional dances, folk dances and original creations inspired by the metrics of traditional dance but presented with a theatrical performance aesthetic. Over its history, Esbart Rocasagna has staged several original performances, showing the harmonious blend of tradition with creativity and innovation.
