A dialogue between visual and performing arts.

Visual arts have graced theatres since time immemorial. Corpus is a performative exhibition where this dynamic is transformed: scenic art enters the museum, intertwining with its narrative alongside the pieces housed there. It forges a connection between the exhibition space and the realm of performing arts. Through Corpus, the audience can reinterpret certain works exhibited in museums, guided by the actions represented by these pieces. Visitors navigate the space much like they would explore a temporary exhibition, unrestrained by time and with the freedom to move forward or back at their own discretion.

Irene Vicente Salas received her training as an art historian, specialising in the history of performing arts, at the University of Barcelona and La Sapienza. Subsequently, she embarked on a career as a director and playwright at the Institut del Teatre. With her own company, Cia Pelipolaca, she has premiered works that include Autònoma (2017) and Unheimlich. The latter production earned her the Kinètic grant from the Centre Cívic Parc Sandaru and the DespertaLab grant. Following this achievement, her interest grew in translating the knowledge acquired in art history to the stage and exploring the concept of subverting it with a solid foundation. These concepts materialised in a performance presented at Pompeii and the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. Corpus was featured at the MNAC during the Festival Grec 2023 and at the Museu Marès during the Festival Grec 2022, as part of the Creació i Museu (Creation and Museum) programme.
