AIGUA

Project of art and science

Thursday, 25 April | 7:30 PM

Aigua is a project that blends art and science within classroom settings.

The collaboration between Sismògraf and the Centre for Territorial Sustainability brings this artistic endeavour to life. Science and art converge with a common goal: to reflect on water, delve into our relationship with it and explore new connections with nature.
Over the course of ten sessions, a scientist and a dancer will engage with a group of young people. Drawing from the interests, motivations and experiences of these young people, a multidisciplinary performance will take shape, with dance as its focal point and water as both its driving force and inspiration.

Mireia Jiménez works as a hydrogeologist, focusing on the study of groundwater. Her passion lies in designing and implementing projects that reshape our understanding of the natural world and our societal connections, all in favor of ecological balance and social justice. She dedicates her efforts to sustainable water management and crafting strategies for the revitalization of river ecosystems.
Montse Canals is both a creator and performer in contemporary and aerial dance. She's a key figure in Girona's dance scene, co-founding Les Golfes, a hub for dance and creation. Additionally, she's a member of the aerial performance troupe Deambulants and the dance ensemble Las Lo Las. Montse's talent has graced stages worldwide, collaborating with esteemed companies like 2D1 (Barcelona), Corinne Sierink (Netherlands), TruckSpherich (Slovakia), and Mariantònia Oliver (Mallorca), among others.
