PROP DE MONTEIA / SOUND INSTALLATION
Job Ramos
From a window on the second floor of the Teatre Principal d’Olot, a sound piece engages us with the landscape before us. The project delves into the history of the first community to repopulate the rural landscape of the Garrotxa region in the late 1960s. This community remains largely shrouded in mystery, existing somewhere between rumour and myth. By preserving the anonymity of its members and location, the project explores their origins, their aspirations to create a new world, and the development of methods aimed at reconnecting with nature to restore a lost dialogue. Drawing parallels to Kathleen Kinkade’s A Walden Two Experiment, it narrates a tale of utopias and disillusionments. The research unfolds through an auditory exploration of the sites where this social experiment unfolded.
Job Ramos explores the connections between nature and artificiality. His artistic endeavours span cinema, installation and drawing. He is a visual artist and lecturer at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Fine Arts and at the University of Vic’s Faculty of Education, Translation, Sport and Psychology (FETEP). His work has been exhibited on an international scale.
