ATENDRE UN FORA DE TEMPS / FILM

One year ago, the site-specific film Atendre un fora de temps was screened for three nights at the Astacifactoria del Molí de les Fonts. This screening was aimed at a non-human audience. It was accompanied by the following text:

“This film isn’t intended for you. It’s not aimed at a human audience. Instead, it’s directed towards crabs, potential insects, maybe even some birds or frogs. There’s nothing odd about this. We talk to babies or pets without expecting them to fully understand us. Yet, we speak to them nonetheless. It’s a bit like that.
Atendre un fora de temps is conceived based on a duration of footage that surpasses the attention span of muscles, eyes and human consumption of images. Continuous shots extend over time, rendering what comes next somehow inaccessible.”

A significant portion of the film’s footage was shot in the Moixina marshes, which have dried up over this period. Today, we must consider another interpretation: it serves as a chronicle of a nature that no longer exists.

Job Ramos explores the connections between nature and artificiality. His artistic endeavours span cinema, installation and drawing. He is a visual artist and lecturer at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Fine Arts and at the University of Vic’s Faculty of Education, Translation, Sport and Psychology (FETEP). His work has been exhibited on an international scale.
