A three-hour walk through a natural landscape with the dancers of Nomadics by Belgian company Voetvolk, culminating in the performance at the Teatre Principal.

Before Nomadics, the dancers take a kilometres-long walk, along with anyone from the audience who feels like joining them. The dancers appear at an agreed place and time and pick them up for a walk that is all about looking, experiencing and connecting with the landscape. From the stimuli and noise of the city to the tranquillity of the country. And back to the hustle and bustle. They end on stage, where the paths separate again, and the performance can begin.

Voetvolk (Dutch for ‘infantry’) is a Belgian contemporary dance and performance company, founded in 2007 by dancer/choreographer Lisbeth Gruwez and musician/composer Maarten Van Cauwenberghe. Their work is an ongoing conversation between corporal and auditive movement: Lisbeth Gruwez and Maarten Van Cauwenberghe share a unique artistic DNA that has been developed both consciously and intuitively. Their chemistry creates an organic symbiosis within a defined and multifaceted frame, ensuring that the aural and visual physicality remain constantly alive. Voetvolk is actively engaged in devising new ways to connect with the contemporary dance audience, and reach beyond it. Through Lisbeth Gruwez dances Bob Dylan, and Into the Open Voetvolk succeeded to bring music lovers into contact with contemporary dance. Nomadics, invites people to undergo long hikes with artistic team and dance crew before watching the show, as a way to explore different ways of connection with the audience. Their performances have been shown at Festival d’Avignon, Festival de Marseille, Julidans, Tanz im August, Dance Umbrella and the Venice Biennale, among many others.

With the accompaniment of dancers from the company.
